Here's a scanned photo that i took 2 1/2 years ago. Lit from a stretegically placed lamp in pitch darkness.
This was taken using film at a time where i had the chance to develop my photographs manually in a darkroom. One thing i know even though i've moved on to digital is.... you can't beat the feeling of seeing your image appear while it soaks in the chemical bath in the darkroom. It's MAGIC!!
HOWEVER... i do not agree that digital photography makes it any easier for someone o become a 'pro' at taking good photos... in many cases it just highlights the fact that many people become lazy when using digital hence making their photos even more mediocre.
I try and put as much thought into every picture i take as much as i would if i was using film because at the end of the day, if you have to post process every pic in Photoshop to death in order for it to even look good then it means you're failing to capture the moment which you saw with your eyes.
Plus i cherish the things i learnt while using film - the guesswork, the anxiety heheh, the accounting and most of all the relief of getting 1 good photo out of 36 exposures!
With digital, i learn on the spot. I see the mistake, i correct it, and i try never to repeat the mistake. Instant education.... but only if i want to learn you know what i mean. If i just delete when a pic doesn't look good without identifying why it looked so bad then..... too bad for me i guess.
To film - for all you've given me and to digital - for the good times ahead!

Post processing
|
|
Hi everyone,
If anyone was wondering whether my photos look the way they do straight out of the camera or go through massive tweaks in photoshop well here is the answer ...
I make it a point to ensure that i capture at least 85% of what i saw through my own eyes at the time of me pressing the shutter release button. That means if i saw bright, green leaves etc, then the picture that comes out of the camera should have at least 85% of that brightness & color. The other 10 - 15% can come in the form of curve/ brighness & contrast adjustment. I try not to make color balance adjustments because i'm forcing my self to capture the colors straight from the camera.
An example could be in my previous post. The pictures - Gandalf, Tree Hugging Spike, Action>Blend did not have any adjustments made on them. I felt they had enough contrast etc. and as such i left them untouched. And that made me happy.......
However the greatest joy i get is when i get a photo that does not need any curve adjustment etc. That's when you know you're really improving as a photographer.
So to everyone out there..try and capture as much as possible from the camera so you need less post-processing aight! You'll enjoy the whole picture taking process a whole lot more!

Well here's a small update on my page since fotopages was havin trouble uploading my pics for the past few days.
It's been raining in the evenings basically everyday and my mornings are usually full, so i've yet had a good time to take some nice natural light photography... but here's a few that i've taken when the skies weren't tooo overcast.

First few photos from my Nikon D70
|
|
I just bought my self a lovely Nikon D70!
Ive not taken too many photos yet due to the daily rain we've been having...but when the sun has been shining i've managed to take a few photos... which i'll add in here everyday (or whenever i can heheh)
and people..please don't use my photos here for any commercial use without my permission okay...i'll add a watermark for my photos later, but these images of my cats are free from any watermark so u can appreciate their cuteness to the max.
i'll add in more 'artistic' shots later definitely. have a look and let me know whatcha think!

These photos come from the preparations before the Nikah of Normie and Sharul as well as malam berinai.
Susunan entry memang luarbiasa, bermula dengan nikah (entry di bawah) barulah ke pra-nikah, kemudian ke malam berinai. Tapi pasangan pengantin ni memang luarbiasa (in a very good way) jadi entrynya jugak kenalah luarbiasa.
Okay i'm not very good at this sweet talk, so lets just enjoy the photos kay!
